Board Appointments: Board Officers were not chosen at this meeting due to the absence of several members. It was decided to wait till the November meeting to constitute the new Board.
Until then the existing President, Bert Rupert, will continue to act in the role.
Membership discussions: Informal discussions/report from Mike & Marjorie. It was suggested that a targeted e-mail be sent out pertaining to membership renewal.
Also suggested that an inquiry be included in the e-mail regarding volunteers for a block captain roll. Task would be to acquire e-mail addresses from immediate neighbours.
Mail Boxes (community): Status – Jenn Bougie reported receiving a notice from Canada Post that Spring 2015 is the target time frame for our community mail box installation.
Marjorie reported that the Civic Hospital Community Association is putting forward a challenge to the community boxes.
Suggested that we contact Canada Post in an effort to get involved with our community mail box installation(s). Details such as size, quantity and locations need our input.
A general survey of the community will be initiated by way of on-line tool ‘Survey Monkey” and on our community web site. Mike to draft letter defining the ‘challenge’ and Marjorie to prepare survey content.
Steve Wilson to act as point of contact with Canada Post. Survey results will be needed to support our position.
Traffic: Maitland Avenue truck traffic and general speeding continues to be an issue. Marjorie to investigate fines as applied to these two issues. Also to inquire as to what type(size) of vehicle qualifies as a disallowed truck. Marjorie to contact Constable Sue Wright on these points.
Miscellaneous: Marjorie to contact Peter Carmen, President of Belair Community Association, to keep communication lines in place.
Ward 8 televised councilor debate to be rebroadcast on Rogers 22 at 9:00PM, October 15.
Broadcast of Trustee debate will be October 14 at 10:00AM and October 26 at 10:00PM.
Suggeted that Ottawa West News would be another communication vehicle for CPCA news, etc.
