In Thursday’s Ottawa Citizen, reporter Tom Spears and photographer James Park gave great coverage to Catherine Fortune and Tim Martin’s gentle protest against Canada Post’s installation of Community Mailboxes here in Copeland Park.
The couple planted flowers on two mailbox sites located on Navaho Drive and Ainsley Drive. Their signs invite people who disagree with the Canada Post initiative to contribute additional plants, and while it probably won’t deter Canada Post, Catherine hopes that it may slow them down a little.
Very few people in the neighbourhood are in favour of what the post office is doing, and from those of us who would like to eliminate the super mailboxes, a hearty thank you to Catherine and Tim, who made their point softly but effectively. Well done!
